The meeting Location is the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center (Spring Green, WI).
Taliesin is offering a self-guided opportunity to walk the 800-acre estate. This experience offers visitors a chance to explore the stunning Driftless Area landscapes of Southwest Wisconsin while also providing a unique look into the estate’s history from architectural and agricultural viewpoints.
Several examples from nearly every decade of Wright’s career are scattered throughout the hills. Building interiors will not be accessible with this tour option, but visitors will walk around the structures’ exterior. Restrooms and restricted areas will be marked with signage and noted on an estate map.
At check-in, visitors will come to the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center and be provided with a map and information regarding both the estate buildings and our agricultural efforts, past and present. A scavenger hunt for our younger guests will also be included.
The self-guided tours begin on a picturesque rural estate that has some unique characteristics. All self-guided tours require a significant amount of standing, stair climbing, and walking on uneven terrain. There are several series of steps and some with no handrails. Some exterior walkways consist of loose gravel or grassy pathways. We can arrange private accessible tours with three weeks’ notice. Please call directly for details. 877-588-7900 Ext 229. We share this information so that all guests may be fully prepared for what to expect.
Tour tickets are non-refundable, even if plans change due to circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are always able to reschedule a tour or provide a credit for a future tour. In the unfortunate event Taliesin Preservation cancels a tour or event, guests will be notified in advance and offered a full refund to the original payment method or a credit valid through the following tour season.
Can I bring food and beverages? Yes! No coolers or alcohol allowed.
Are there restrooms available? Indoor facilities are available at the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center and Hillside School. All facilities will be sanitized regularly.
Can I bring lawn chairs? No lawn chairs; please bring a blanket for your picnic.
Do I need bug spray or sunscreen? Yes! We highly recommend both.
Are there garbage cans? Guests must take all refuse with them upon departure.
Is there traffic on the interior roads? Only Taliesin shuttles and designated vehicles use interior roads. Please use caution when walking on the roads.
