Created as a tribute to the Winnebago Indian Nation, two sculptural figures were to stand in a large circular, shallow basins of water at the entrance to the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Nakoma Country Club, Madison, Wisconsin. Neither the statues nor the clubhouse were built during Wright's lifetime.
In 1929, Wright had the Nakoma and Nakomis sculptures produced at a smaller scale in terra cotta. This edition is very rare. These ceramic reproductions are made of the original 1929 version Wright had on his desk.
