Nature Patterns with Aris Georges
- August 24 - 25, 2013
Using a method developed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and later by his secretary and artist Gene Masselink, Taliesin faculty Aris Georges has developed the Nature Patterns workshop as a short version of the full course he teaches at the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture. Nature Patterns is a fun exercise in geometric abstraction and pattern-making by using nature as a reference. The exercise uses geometry as the visual language to generate pattern, and is accomplished in distinct steps, yielding both an interesting process and a finished piece. While the product will be a drawing, the designs generated may be applied afterwards to other media, depending on the artist.

Senior Citizen Visitation Program
Fall 2013 - This program was supported in part by a grant from the Alliant Energy Foundation.
Designed for the enjoyment of assisted living facility and nursing home residents of Spring Green, TPI provides a two-part program that includes tea in the gardens at Taliesin and presentations, readings and art activities at the residences. Guests from local senior residences are invited to enjoy an afternoon tea within the intimate Taliesin courtyard gardens and to visit with Senior Taliesin Fellowship residents. In 2010, presentation themes were “Frank Lloyd Wright’s History in the Valley” and “Frank Lloyd Wright and Japan.” After the first presentation, which featured intriguing historical images, a 15-minute reading from the book “The Valley of the God-Almighty Jones” was given. The book was written by Frank Lloyd Wright’s sister, Maginel. The program concluded with a 20-minute art project – “Organic Prints.” Following the second presentation was a reading from ”My Father, FLLW” by John Lloyd Wright, and a 20-minute haiku-writing activity.
